The Library holds long-form documents: books, papers, manuals, anything you want to read rather than write. Imports are split into chapters, and everything you highlight stays with the book.

Why the office formats are desktop only
The desktop converts them in its main process with a dedicated converter. The phone uses the shared readers, which cover the common formats but not the older Microsoft ones.

Reading

The reader gives you a chapter list, adjustable width, and a set of typography controls built for long sessions rather than for looking clever.

Highlights

  1. 1Select a passage in the text.
  2. 2Click Highlight the selected passage.
  3. 3The highlight is stored with the book and travels in your backups.

Highlights work slightly differently on each platform
The desktop highlights exactly what you selected, and a selection may span more than one paragraph. The phone highlights whole paragraphs.

Reading with help

  • Copy to a note turns a selected passage into a note, keeping a link back to the chapter.
  • AI Magic works on a document too, so you can ask a question about the chapter you are reading. See Using AI on a note.
